It all began when the Imperium took control of Earth and imposed martial law, sentencing to immediate death, or worse fates, all who opposed its will. All hope seemed lost, but before their edict could be enforced, a group of deserters managed to seize the Ridback, a Class II ship, and flee with as many condemned as they could save.
Nearly seven years have passed since these Earth refugees made their home aboard the Ridback, and the crew has finally discovered a promising planet. They have managed to establish outposts there, and now the heavy task falls to you to transform these small "alpha" colonies into a true beta colony. Success will allow your people to start a new life on the exoplanet 14 Bos c, or "Victus," as they have renamed it, a Latin term meaning "way of life."
In Beta Colony, you play as one of five directors working to create prosperous colonies. If you earn the most trust points (TP), you will be elected the first leader of Victus. Players will collect the building materials needed to produce and erect colonization modules—defense stations, scientific and technological towers, housing quarters, agricultural modules, and purification stations—on the varied terrain of Victus.
With its unique "rolldell" mechanism (dice + rondel), Beta Colony is a medium-difficulty strategy game suitable for all skill levels. Each turn, the starting player rolls their four colored dice. All other players replicate this result with their own dice. Players perform two actions per turn, one at a time, each requiring two dice. They use one die to move and the other to activate the destination location. The color and value of the dice influence the use of each of the seven unique locations. Players will build colonization modules in each of the three colonies to gain the trust of the settlers and lead them to glory!
