In Ratchet: Deadlocked, Ratchet and Clank are captured and forced to participate in an underground reality TV show. The show, which features kidnapped heroes fighting for their survival against a gang of Exterminators, is run by a disturbed media mogul named Gleeman Vox, who intends to use Ratchet and Clank as the next contestants. Vox quickly realizes that Ratchet is the most promising candidate the show has ever seen.
