Risk Legacy represents what is otherwise a new concept, at least rare in the game of society: campaigning.
At the base, the game, especially at the beginning, plays a bit like a normal risk with some changes.
Players control countries or regions on a world map, and through simple combat (players rolling dice to determine who loses units in each battle), they try to eliminate all opponents from the game board or control a certain number of "red stars", also called victory points (VP).
What is different is that Risk Legacy' changes over time depending on the result of each game and the different choices made by the players.
In each game, players choose one of the five factions; each faction has unique form parts and, more importantly, different rules.
At the start of the first game, each of these factions gains the ability to break a minor rule, such as the ability to move troops anytime during your turn, as opposed to only at the end.
