In Japan, it took Super Smash Bros. Melee only a few weeks to reach the record milestone of one million games sold. It was a true event for this all-out fighting game made by Nintendo. However, don't be misled: the battles here are not particularly violent.
Bringing together all the iconic characters from the Nintendo universe (Mario, Yoshi, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Fox McCloud, etc.), Super Smash Bros. Melee resembles a gigantic free-for-all where the primary goal is to eject your opponents from the arena.
To achieve this, anything goes, and you shouldn't hesitate to use hammers, levitation bubbles, and all kinds of bonuses to pull off these virtual home runs! Those who think this is a rather chaotic game can rest assured: each of the 25 characters has a huge range of moves and other special attacks.
There are therefore several levels of technical depth, with brute force rarely proving victorious. With four players simultaneously, the fun is multiplied. Alliances form quickly, underhanded strategies abound, and comebacks are commonplace. Not to mention the colossal longevity, with its remarkably rich game modes, including a mini-adventure, so-called “Event” matches (Mario must defend Princess Peach from Bowser's attacks, etc.), characters who appear after a certain amount of playtime, as well as the ability to collect miniature figurines, open a museum about the history of Nintendo characters, and more...
Exhilarating, accessible, extremely friendly, and bursting with good humor, Super Smash Bros. Melee hits hard on GameCube!
